Gold medal winners Yulo, Petecio to receive P1M incentives from MVPSF

The Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation (MVPSF) generously supports Filipino athletes across all sports just so they could train and compete at the highest level possible. The group also handsomely rewards those select few who bring honor and glory to the country in their respective fields.

After claiming gold medals for the Philippines on Sunday, Carlos Yulo (gymnastics) and Nesthy Petecio (boxing) will receive a P1 million incentive from the MVPSF.

The foundation’s president Al Panlilio confirmed the news on Monday in a statement.

“The Filipino athlete will always have an ally in the MVP Sports Foundation. We know we have world class athletes and we know they can be the best in the world if they get the support they need,” he said.

“In less than 24 hours, two Filipino athletes were crowned as the best in the world with gymnast Carlos Yulo and boxer Nesthy Petecio. The MVPSF is proud to have played a part in their success and their victories only inspire us to continue our efforts towards getting our first Olympic Gold,” Panlilio, who also serves as the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas head, added.

Yulo emerged as the top performer in the floor exercise portion of the World Gymnastics Championship in Stuttgart, Germany, besting Israeli gymnast Artem Dolghopyat. Petecio, on the other hand,  edged Russia’s Liudmila Vorontsova by split decision in the 2019 Aiba Women’s World Boxing Championships in Ulan-Ude, Russia.

Both athletes will banner the flag anew in the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines this November 30 to December 11.
