CDO boxer Eljay Pamisa brings home silver from ASBC Juniors Championship

15 and fighting: ABAP Junior and CDO pride Eljay Pamisa gets second spot in the ASBC Asian Juniors Boxing Championships via 3-2 split decision in the pinweight (46-kilogram)

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine boxing team continued to shine with junior bet Eljay Pamisa striking a silver in the ASBC Asian Juniors Boxing Championships in Al Fujaira, United Arab Emirates.

Pamisa barely missed a top podium finish in dropping a heartbreaking 2-3 defeat to Indian Vishvanath Suresh in the pinweight division final.

It was another commendable effort for a Filipino athlete on the international stage as it came a few days after gymnast Carlos Edriel “Caloy” Yulo and boxer Nesthy Petecio emerged as world champions in their respectively events.

The 15-year-old Pamisa made it that far by overcoming Thanakom Aonyaem of Thailand in the semifinals Wednesday night.

The effort by Pamisa was the best among the crack four-man team sent by the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines.

Jercho Acaylar managed a win, Dave Laurejas had a pair of triumphs while Jimier Cubay had to withdraw due to an ailment.
